NordicTrack Treadmill Troubleshooting

NordicTrack Treadmills are much popular in midst of users who are looking for a treadmill for their home uses. Although they have a large scale of models with differences in size and features, still being from one brand, their internal functionalities are quite similar actually.

Talking about models, in the market we get, Commercial X32i, NEW Commercial X22i, NEW Commercial 2450, NEW Commercial 1750, Commercial 1750 (Prev. Model), EXP 14i, EXP 10i, Elite 1000, EXP 7i, T 6.5 Si, C 700.

Okay, from the beginning we will discuss common issues and troubleshoots accordingly so far. Tips and tricks will be integrated, so, make sure you don’t miss any part of the article. And as we said they have a large scale of products, they may not be similar so much, still, they can have common issues and we even will discuss problems by mentioning specific models regarding their troubleshoots.

So, Let’s get started.

NordicTrack Treadmill Troubleshooting

The very first time you start with your NordicTrack Treadmill, you may face screening issues,

NordicTrack Treadmill Screen Not Working

This can be called interface screen error. This is a very common issue that can be arisen from both software and hardware. Now, first, you need to visualize the source of the issue.

Sometimes the problem might be just some improper connection from the cords. So better check them out first.

Check the control panel screen and look at the length of the power cord. If that is too tangled, maybe that’s the reason behind your no-screening issue. So many times, in case of a damaged core, may turn into these kinda problems. So, you need to get a new cable and the problem will no longer appear.

Try not to bend the cord too much or just put the tables, and stands on it. This harms the cable in long run.

And finally, while you are having screening issues, and checked the previous things we have noted, unplug the power cord and leave it for 60 seconds. Then turn it back on, and it will be fine.

Belt Slipping

Often this is a common trouble for the users. The belt may show trouble and not moving on the very first time, or even after a few days.

The reason is, that belts are being stretched every single time you are using the treadmill, secondly, in case of measurement issues, the belt may not fit properly from the very first time.

Okay! We would recommend you to check the belt before you are actually running it on the go. Check the size and length along with the tension measurement.

Or sometimes, in case the belt is overheating, maybe it is because of the overtight fitting. Thou you cannot loosen it by cutting it off, better use a special oil to lubricate it so that, the stretching pressure will be much sober.

Motor Not Working

Actually, this has a similar troubleshoot as the belts, use some lubricants if the motor is jammed somehow. If not fixed yet, check the power connection and plugs. If there are any torn cable, broken cores, or damaged wire issues then changing the cable may fi it all.

But if it is not yet fixed, has a burnt smell from inside, instantly cut off the power, and ask for authentic service support instantly.

NordicTrack Console Not Responding

Here this issue is different from model to model. Such as, if you are a user of C2050 then you have to know, that your Treadmill console only responds between 1 to 7 mph. If you are going over, the console may stop responding.

You have to decrease the speed and try again.

Sometimes your console may read only zero, in that sort of situation,

Adjust the reed switch if the console only reads zeros if the controls aren’t working properly. To remove the motor hood and adjust the reed switch, you’ll need a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the motor hood, unplug the power cord, and look for the reed switch on the left side of the belt pulley.

Rotate the pulley until you see a little magnet next to the reed switch. Remove the switch’s screw, but do not remove it, and move the switch with your hand until the space between the switch and the magnet is 1/8 inch. Replace the motor hood after tightening the screw.

Incline Control Not Working Correctly

If your treadmill is not working properly after you change the incline, better to calibrate the machine properly.

The process differs on how old your machine is. As standard hold the stop and speed increase buttons together. While holding, put the safety key inside the console and release those buttons.

You will see the walking platform rising up and then getting back in its place. And this indicates the calibration is properly done.

Afterward, keep in mind that, if you are a user of a newer machine that has a touch screen. Navigate to the settings and click on Calibrate Incline. The calibration process will be starting in a while.

Console Has No Power

This is fairly connected to the control issues. Because when the console doesn’t have any power from the source, it would stop all the controls to be functional.

First check the outlet, if the power cord is connected properly or not.

Then make sure the safety key is inserted properly because for safety reasons the device won’t have power without the safety key.

If the power issue is still not gone, check the outlet with some other device or plug. When you are sure about the outlet doesn’t have any problem, then go for a reset.

Find the reset button next to the power cord. Reset the device, wait for five minutes and then turn it back on. Hope the issue will be fixed.

We have been talking much about hardware issues, where there is a massive impact on software and firmware. So, let’s talk about firmware updates first,

NordicTrack Firmware Updates

Actually, this is never a harder task. Go to the App Settings and check the firmware updates.

If there is an update available click on it and the update will be started.

Be cautious that while the update is going on, your host device has enough power and doesn’t turn off in the midst of the updating process. This may leave the device in an unworkable condition.

As we are talking about host devices, we gotta explain how you can connect your NordicTrack to your phone.

Connect NordicTrack to mobile

  • Download the iFIT app on your smartphone.
  • Sign in or Sign up if you are new.
  • In the upper left corner, you can find the menu button.
  • Select Pair Device from there and connect your treadmill.

That’s it! You are done.

Out of nowhere sometimes your device may find some Wi-Fi connection issues.

Wi-Fi connection problem

This issue can not be emphasized too much. Just some short tricks.

As soon as you find that your NordicTrack treadmill is having a problem connecting to the Wi-Fi, Turn the device off for about 15 to 30 seconds and then turn it back on again. This will make it solved.

If not yet, go for a manual reset. This will give your device a fresh start and the Wi-Fi issue will be no longer there.

Also, the same trick for Bluetooth issues across your device.

As we suggested about resetting, that’s the finishing point of our chapter here today.

Reset NordicTrack Treadmill

There are differences in resetting procedures according to device models. There may be a reset button that can make your action the easiest.

Most of the time you may find the resetting button next to the power cord of your device. Check that out, that’s the easiest way you can reset it.

Now what you need to do is,

  • Put the paperclip into the pinhole. Press and hold the clip.
  • While you are holding it, some other person will put the power switch back on.
  • As soon as the machine screen lights up you may release the paper clip.

In case your device is much older that doesn’t have a reset button,

  • For the proper resetting procedure, remove the magnetic key.
  • Press the stop and speed-up buttons at the same time and hold them for a few minutes.
  • Insert the safety key into the pinhole of your NordicTrack treadmill.
  • And finally, reset the incline. The incline resetting procedure is already emphasized above in the ‘Incline Control’ Section.

So, that is all for this troubleshooting chapter. Actually, if your NordicTrack treadmill is making trouble, just apply the fixes we have noted above according to the situation. Do not rush while troubleshooting any problem.

Also, using third-party accessories and third-party software or patches for pairing is highly prohibited. They may advertise more facilities to you but you have no idea what loss they can do to you causes not any of those are authentic or verified.

Finally, if your problems are still not fixed, call the authentic customer care of NordicTrack and ask for support. If you have a warranty, utilize it.
